Pleasant Area Community Foundation manages more than 95 permanently endowed scholarship funds, created by local individuals, businesses, and organizations, to help students (of all ages) reach their educational goals. *Thru February 28: Become a lighthouse keeper at Tawas Point! Grab three friends and apply to the 2026 Lighthouse Keeper Program at Tawas Point Lighthouse, located in Tawas Point State Park. Opportunities are available from early May through late October. Enjoy a two-week stay along the beautiful Lake Huron shoreline, immersed in the history of Tawas Point. Applications are due by 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 28. There is a $10 nonrefundable application fee.
*Thru March 1: Midland Girls Softball Little League announces spring girls' softball registration for girls ages 4-12 of all abilities - The league is chartered through Little League Baseball and Softball and participates in the statewide All-Stars tournament. *Thru March 15: Meijer Gardens, Grand Rapids exhibit "Jaume Plensa: A New Humanism" - This landmark exhibition explores the artist's career-long engagement with universal human themes including dreams, desire, justice, and mortality. *Thru March 31: Your local Menards store is a drop site for a local food pantry - Menards does offer a variety of non-perishable food items that can be donated to the food pantries, from boxes of cereal to cans of soup - There is a large collection box near the exit doors to place donations.
*Thru April 1: Applications to the Bernard F. and Melissa Anne Bailey Family Fund Health Care Scholarship program at MyMichigan Health are now available for the 2026-2027 school year. Students may access the application online at www.mymichigan.org/bailey. Applications and support documentation will only be accepted electronically. Dow Memorial Library in Midland will be closed from Monday, February 16 through Saturday, February 21 as final interior renovation projects are completed and the Library prepares for its full reopening. During the closure, Library phone services will be available Tuesday, February 17 through Thursday, February 19 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and on Friday, February 20 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. All scheduled programs during the closure will occur as planned. Attendees must enter through the Library auditorium for program access.

At 6pm, weight restrictions will be imposed and enforced on all state trunkline highways from the Indiana and Ohio borders north to and including US-10 in Ludington in Mason County from the M-116 intersection, then east to US-127 in Clare County, then north on US-127 to M-61, then east on M-61 ending at the intersection with US-23 in the city of Standish, Arenac County.

1 Thru April 30: Meijer Gardens, Grand Rapids exhibit "Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming" - The Lena Meijer Tropical Conservatory is transformed into a vibrant sanctuary filled with thousands of tropical butterflies, creating the largest temporary tropical butterfly exhibition in the United States and one of Meijer Gardens' most anticipated annual experiences.
4 MDOT public open house for upcoming M-20/US-10 BR improvement project in Midland - 4:30-6:30p.m. at Midland City Hall, 333 W. Ellsworth St. Midland, MI 48640 - This spring, crews will begin work to rebuild M-20 (Jerome Street) from W. Main Street to Indian Street and US-10 BR (Indian Street/Buttles Street and Patrick Street/Lyon Street) from Jerome Street to Washington Street in Midland. Work is anticipated to begin in March, depending on the weather.
