It can also be found on our homepage > community tab > dropdown submit an event.  You may even attach a flyer or image of your event.  Properly posted events will be reviewed, edited and considered for both our website and air-personalities to talk about, in rotation with other community events. These announcements can also be emailed a minimum of 2 weeks in advance to kent@wcfx.com.

*TFN:  Art Reach of Mid-Michigan - Registration is now open for the 2026 Festival of Banners. This annual community art project invites                 individuals, families, and organizations to create hand-painted banners inspired by the 2026 theme, Dreamscapes, which explores imagined                 worlds and creative possibility. Banners will be displayed at multiple locations throughout the community. Space is limited, and                 registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

*TFN:  The Michigan DNR has hundreds of seasonal park worker positions available - 1,300 summer park workers will spend their season in                 Michigan state parks, boating facilities and other outdoor spaces - You'll play a vital role in park operations, directly contributing to the                 visitor experience by welcoming guests, registering campers and ensuring the upkeep of our facilities through essential tasks like cleaning                                 and grounds maintenance.  Beyond earning a starting hourly rate of $15.50, you'll connect with nature, meet incredible people and gain         valuable skills in customer service, teamwork and outdoor recreation.  Apply now! *Thru February 24:  Winter Nights at Meijer Gardens, Grand Rapids - 5pm-9pm - Guests enjoy evening hours and special programming in the                 Garden Pavilion, offering an elevated winter experience surrounded by sculpture, light, and seasonal culinary offerings.

*Thru February 28:  The Mt. Pleasant Area Community Foundation manages more than 95 permanently endowed scholarship funds, created by                 local individuals, businesses, and organizations, to help students (of all ages) reach their educational goals. The 2026 Scholarship                 Application is now available through the Scholarship Portal on our website. To apply, visit the portal, complete the online application, and                 submit it by Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

*Thru February 28:  Become a lighthouse keeper at Tawas Point! Grab three friends and apply to the 2026 Lighthouse Keeper Program at Tawas                 Point Lighthouse, located in Tawas Point State Park. Opportunities are available from early May through late October. Enjoy a two-week                 stay along the beautiful Lake Huron shoreline, immersed in the history of Tawas Point.  Applications are due by 11:45 p.m. Saturday, Feb.                 28. There is a $10 nonrefundable application fee.

*Thru March 1:  Midland Girls Softball Little League announces spring girls' softball registration for girls ages 4-12 of all abilities - The league is                 chartered through Little League Baseball and Softball and participates in the statewide All-Stars tournament. Games begin Saturday, April                 25. Registrations will be accepted until March 1, with player fees determined by the participant’s age. Register online at www.mgsll.org.

*Thru March 6:  Central Michigan University students, faculty and staff are invited to nominate exemplary staff members for the 2025-2026 Staff                 Excellence Awards.  Nominators must complete each of the form’s questions using specific examples of how the nominated staff member                 embraces CMU’s core values and Leadership Standards.

*Thru March 15:  Fat Tire Biking Season at Silver Lake State Park in Mears - 450 acres of open sand dunes, elevation changes of 80-100 feet,                 access to Lake Michigan and sunsets over the lake from the top of the dunes during the fat-tire biking season at, continuing through March                 15. There is no cost or registration.

*Thru March 15:  Meijer Gardens, Grand Rapids exhibit "Jaume Plensa: A New Humanism" - This landmark exhibition explores the artist's                 career-long engagement with universal human themes including dreams, desire, justice, and mortality. Featuring both monumental                 sculptures and more intimate works, this is the first U.S. retrospective of the internationally celebrated sculptor. *Thru March 31:  Your local Menards store is a drop site for a local food pantry - Menards does offer a variety of non-perishable food items that                 can be donated to the food pantries, from boxes of cereal to cans of soup - There is a large collection box near the exit doors to place                 donations.

*Thru April 1:  Applications to the Bernard F. and Melissa Anne Bailey Family Fund Health Care Scholarship program at MyMichigan Health are                 now available for the 2026-2027 school year. Students may access the application online at www.mymichigan.org/bailey. Applications and                 support documentation will only be accepted electronically. The deadline for the 2026-2027 school year is Tuesday, April 1, 2026.  Those                 interested in more information may contact Annie Korf at annie.korf@mymichigan.org. *Thru April 21:  Persons interested in running as a candidate in the 2026 Midland City Council election must submit a nominating petition by 4pm on Tuesday, April 21 - To qualify as a Council candidate, a person must be a registered voter in the City of Midland, a resident of the    City of Midland for at least one year immediately prior to the date of the election, and a resident of the ward from which they seek to be          elected prior to the date of election.  Petition forms, Affidavits of Identity, and 2026 City Council Election information is available at the      Midland City Clerk’s Office, 333 W. *Thru April 26:  NATURE, ENERGY, & REFLECTION at Dow Gardens in Midland - Nature, Energy, & Reflection features eight ceramic                 installations, each inspired by a specific location within Dow Gardens, accompanied by peaceful guided meditations with breathing                 instructions.  Helen Hierta creates art that explores the natural world as a means of revealing how the invisible becomes visible. Her hope                 for viewers is to gain an understanding of personal and collective consciousness, to sense how we share our world with all of life.  Come                 visit the exhibit in the ever-evolving landscape.  Included with your admission to Dow Gardens or purchase of an annual pass.

16  Thru February 21: The Grace A. Dow Memorial Library in Midland will be closed from Monday, February 16 through Saturday, February 21 as                 final interior renovation projects are completed and the Library prepares for its full reopening. During the closure, Library phone services                 will be available Tuesday, February 17 through Thursday, February 19 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and on Friday, February 20 from 10 a.m. – 5                 p.m.  All scheduled programs during the closure will occur as planned. Attendees must enter through the Library auditorium for program                 access.

16  City of Midland offices and the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library will be closed on Monday, February 16 for a staff in-service day.  Dial-A-Ride                 will operate regular bus service hours, but will provide reduced phone service hours on Monday, February 16. Ride reservations will not be                 taken by phone after 10:30 a.m.  The Midland Civic Arena will be open regular operating hours on February 16. Monday refuse and                 Monday Week 3 recycling collection will be collected on schedule. The Midland Sanitary Landfill will be open from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

17  MDOT and local agencies are enacting spring weight restrictions, an annual move to protect roads.  At 6pm, weight restrictions will be imposed                 and enforced on all state trunkline highways from the Indiana and Ohio borders north to and including US-10 in Ludington in Mason                 County from the M-116 intersection, then east to US-127 in Clare County, then north on US-127 to M-61, then east on M-61 ending at the                 intersection with US-23 in the city of Standish, Arenac County.

22  Snow Snake is excited to offer free “First Time and Beginner Ski Lessons” - The one hour, beginner group ski lesson begins between 11:15a.m.                 and 12:00 p.m. This is a “Station-by-Station” lesson. 1  Thru April 30:  Meijer Gardens, Grand Rapids exhibit "Fred & Dorothy Fichter Butterflies Are Blooming" - The Lena Meijer Tropical                 Conservatory is transformed into a vibrant sanctuary filled with thousands of tropical butterflies, creating the largest temporary tropical                 butterfly exhibition in the United States and one of Meijer Gardens' most anticipated annual experiences.

9 Thru July 30:  Midland Dow Gardens Program - esign, tend, and harvest your own pint-sized garden plot this summer! The Growin’ Gardeners                 program offers weekly, one-hour sessions where kids (and parents) learn about insects, weeds, and plant biology while caring for a personal                 4×4 plot in the Children’s Garden.  $80 per family (includes supplies, plants, and admission for children in the family). Adults must have an            annual admission card ($30).
