"Donkey," A "Shrek" Spinoff, Coming 2028 - Universal Pictures has officially announced a standalone “Donkey” movie from DreamWorks Animation. The “Shrek” spinoff is set to hit theaters on June 30, 2028. The film will serve as an origin story exploring how Donkey became the beloved character fans know today. Last year, Eddie Murphy teased the project, telling “ScreenRant” that “Donkey’s going to have his own movie,” featuring “his dragon wife and his kids that are half-dragon and half-donkeys.” The announcement comes ahead of the release of "Shrek 5" next year.

"Ratatouille 2" Not Happening, Says Director - Director Brad Bird isn’t interested in making sequels to some of his biggest hits, including "Ratatouille" or "The Iron Giant," insisting in a recent interview with “Collider” that he doesn’t think it’s necessary. He believes some films are complete and don't need to revisit their characters just because they're popular. Bird joked that Pixar has occasionally floated the idea of another "Ratatouille," but he's always turned it down. “They've made little feints towards that to see how I would react. They'll, like, crack a joke, but the joke will be a little bit serious, like, 'Would you?' And I'm like, 'No, we told that story.' Any time you do something that ends up connecting with people, they automatically think, 'How about another?’,” he shares. That said, Bird admits he could imagine another "The Incredibles" movie. In the mean time, the director is focused on his upcoming Netflix animated film, "Ray Gunn."

"The Other Bennet Sister" Christmas Special On The Way - The hit Brit series "The Other Bennet Sister" isn't quiet over after Season One. Mary Bennet's story will continue with a holiday twist. The BBC and BritBox have confirmed that a three-part Christmas special is currently planned, to premiere later this year. The holiday special will see the return of Ella Bruccoleri and the rest of the cast, and will take place after Mary Bennet's wedding to Tom Hayward in the series' final episode. "Conan The Barbarian" Animated Series In The Works At Prime Video - Superstar animator Genndy Tartakovsky is adapting "Conan The Barbarian" for Prime Video. At the Annecy Studio Focus, Tartakovsky made the announcement via a pre-recorded message, saying "I’ve been trying to develop 'Conan' since 2008, but the world was not ready. But now, after Adult Swim’s 'Samurai Jack' and 'Primal,' it’s prime time for this to come to life." Tartakovsky is the mind (and the pen) behind such animated classics as "Dexter's Laboratory" and "Samurai Jack."

"Absolute Batman" Animated Series In Development - A new animated Batman series is in the works. DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation announced an adult TV series based on the best-selling "Absolute Batman" comic. The series envisions Bruce Wayne as an average guy, not the wealthy socialite we're familiar with. The official series description: "'Absolute Batman' boldly reinvents the Batman mythos for a new generation of fans, reimagining the Dark Knight as a working-class hero up against impossible odds (and the most terrifying foes ever), on a mission to prove that even in an era of wealth, power, and corruption, one good person can change the world." It's being reported that the series will eventually land at Max.

"Peppa Pig" Under Fire For AI Contracts With Child Voice Actors - Hasbro is facing some pretty stiff criticism after it came out that the company wants child voice actors on "Peppa Pig" to agree to AI clauses that could allow their voices to be reused in future commercial projects. An open letter, from the Agents of Young Performers Association, has signed by nearly one-thousand people argues that children cannot give fully informed consent, adding that, "Consent must be treated with the greatest of care." The letter also calls for children's voices to be "fully exempt from all AI usage" and rejects contracts requiring performers to give up their voice rights indefinitely. While the letter doesn't name "Peppa Pig," industry sources spilled to “Deadline” that the show is the focus of the dispute. In a statement, Hasbro declined to discuss specific contracts but said protecting child performers is "part of our DNA" and that it is committed to handling AI "in a responsible and transparent manner."

Daryl Hall Says Kidney Transplant Was a Success - Daryl Hall just let fans in on a major health update: the 79-year-old Hall & Oates musician says he recently received a kidney from a "very kind and generous living donor" and that the surgery was "a complete success." In an Instagram post on Tuesday, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer wrote that the transplant took place a few weeks ago and that he's already feeling better. "I should be back to normal in a few months, so get ready for more music and lots of Daryl's House shows," he wrote. "You all take care." Hall didn't disclose what led to his kidney issues. He has previously discussed health struggles, including long-running symptoms from Lyme disease, which he was diagnosed with in 2006 after years of illness, People reports. "I have good days and bad days. I was fine for four months, then I might have tremors, headaches, fatigue," he said in 2008. His most recent album, "D," came out in 2024. He didn't disclose who the kidney donor was, but it probably wasn't John Oates, Vulture notes.

Iconic rock band may be done touring after 6 decades, guitarist says - There’s a chance fans have seen an iconic rock band tour for the last time.  Guitarist Keith Richards cast some doubt that the Rolling Stones would ever tour again due to age of the band’s members and the stress of travel…“I don’t know if tours are possible,” Richards, 82, told the magazine. “It’s the travelling that takes it out of you.”  Fortunately for fans of the Stones, Richards didn’t rule out the possibility of playing multiple shows in one place.  The band’s new album, “Foreign Tongues,” is out July 10.  “Foreign Tongues” features 14 tracks. It is the band’s 25th studio album and features guest contributions from Paul McCartney, Steve Winwood, Robert Smith and Chad Smith of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. It will also feature a song recorded with drummer Charlie Watts prior to his death in 2021.
