1. Manually submit your announcements to our monthly website calendar using this linked SUBMIT AN EVENT form. It can also be found on our homepage > community tab > dropdown submit an event.  You may even attach a flyer or image of your event.  Properly posted events will be reviewed, edited and considered for both our website and air-personalities to talk about, in rotation with other community events. These announcements can also be emailed a minimum of 2 weeks in advance to kent@wcfx.com.

*Thru Summer:  The City of Midland Parks and Recreation Department Gerstacker and Longview spray parks and Thrune Park are open for the                 summer - Spray parks are open from dawn to dusk daily. Thrune Park is open from 10 a.m. to dusk daily.  For safety reasons, water shoes                 are recommended in all water play areas.

*Thru June 30:  September 17 is the MMI Golf Outing fundraiser.  "Pathways to Possibilities" - Riverwood Resort - "Early Bird" Sign up special:                   $75 per player (through June 30th).

*Thru June 30:  2nd annual Michigan 'Pothole Payback' contest, offering motorists a chance to receive compensation for repairs caused by                 Michigan's crumbling infrastructure.  Michigan residents can submit stories and photos of pothole-related vehicle damage for a chance to                 win cash toward repairs. Each month, up to five winners will be selected based on the severity of the damage, with each receiving up to                 $800, the average cost of vehicle repairs due to poor road conditions, according to recent studies examining the financial toll of Michigan's                 deteriorating roads.  The contest submission form with more information about rules and guidelines can be found here:                 www.fixmistate.org/potholepayback/ - More information about the state’s infrastructure needs can be found at FixMIState.org.

*Thru July 2:  The City of Midland is currently undergoing the master planning process for City Forest. In a new topic on E-CityHall, Midland                 residents and City Forest users can view and share feedback on preliminary design plans - Visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/ecityhall to                 participate by Thursday, July 2 at 5 p.m. Feedback collected through this topic will be used in developing a final Master Plan for City                    Forest.

*Thru July 30:  Midland Dow Gardens Program - Design, tend, and harvest your own pint-sized garden plot this summer! The Growin’                 Gardeners program offers weekly, one-hour sessions where kids (and parents) learn about insects, weeds, and plant biology while caring for                 a personal 4×4 plot in the Children’s Garden.  $80 per family (includes supplies, plants, and admission for children in the family). Adults                 must have an annual admission card ($30). 

*Thru July 31:  Earn prizes for reading during the 2026 Summer Reading Program “Unearth a Story” with the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library in                 Midland - Readers of all ages can register for the program on the Beanstack app or website at gadml.beanstack.org, or use paper logs                 available at the Library’s Reference Desks and through the Library’s website

*Thru July 31st:  Menards in Mt Pleasant is serving as a drop site for a local food pantry during the months of June & July, 2026.  There is a large                 collection box near the exit doors to place donations. 

*Thru August 1:  Midland’s Beautification Advisory Committee is accepting nominations for the annual Appreciation of Beautification Awards                 for Landscaping Accomplishments and Structural/Site Improvements made to residential and non-residential (business) property. A third                 category, the Bette R. Tollar Civic Commitment Award, recognizes major beautification accomplishments that benefit the community as a                 whole.  A digital nomination form can be found on the City of Midland website at www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/beautyawards. The                 nomination deadline is August 1.  At this time, recipients of this year’s awards will be recognized and honored at a ceremony in November.

*Thru September 1:  The City of Midland invites you to “Show us your City!”, the annual community photo contest is open for submissions.                  Amateur photographers are encouraged to submit their favorite photos of life in Midland for a chance to be featured in the 2027 City                 Calendar and Services Guide.  Visit www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/citycalendar to submit photos. *Thru September 8:  Dinosaurs Around the World - at Midland Dow Gardens - A towering T. rex, fierce Spinosaurus, and gentle giants like the                 Triceratops will come to life in stunning detail with life-sized, animatronic dinosaurs nestled throughout the Gardens and the Forest.  This                 dino-mite outdoor exhibit is packed with fun for the whole family! Explore winding trails, snap a selfie with a dinosaur bench, and learn                 jaw-dropping facts about the creatures that once ruled the Earth. These prehistoric beasts are sure to amaze, educate, and inspire guests of                 all ages.  Included with your admission to Dow Gardens or purchase of an annual pass.

*Thru September 30:  The Downtown Midland Pedestrian Plaza returns, transforming a stretch of Main Street into a vehicle-free destination for                 outdoor dining, entertainment, shopping, and community gathering. Main Street, between Ashman and Rodd Street and portions of                 McDonald Street, will be closed to all vehicle traffic and parking

*Thru September 30:  First Saturday and third Friday from 2–3:30pm check out Herbert Dow’s Garden Tours, a 90-minute walk beginning on                 the porch of The Pines and travel through the Estate Garden using historic photos, letters, and journals to show how the property has                 changed over time. The route leaves paved paths and covers about 1.5 miles on uneven ground, making it best suited for confident walkers.                  Adults $5 + garden admission. *Thru November 1:  Meijer Gardens, Grand Rapids exhibit "CHIHULY" - One of only two Chihuly exhibitions in the world in 2026, CHIHULY                 at Meijer Gardens Presented by Macatawa Bank is a major exhibition of international significance. The experience spans both the outdoor                 gardens and indoor Sculpture Galleries, creating a dynamic dialogue between glass, landscape, and architecture.

*Thru November:  Thursdays & Fridays at Dow Gardens - Step into the 1899 home of Herbert H. and Grace A. Dow on a guided tour of The                 Pines. *Thru August 14:  Storytime at Midland Dow Gardens - 10am - INCLUDED WITH ADMISSION/Join us on Friday mornings from mid-June                 through mid-August for read-aloud children’s books in The Children’s Garden. *Thru November:  First Saturday of the Month at Dow Gardens - The Pines is open for self-guided exploration from 11 AM to 1 PM. Wander                 through the Dow family home, pause to study details, and chat with docents stationed throughout the house for questions and context.                 11am-1pm - Adults $5 + garden admission. 13  Commons Live Music Series Downtown Midland - Free live music at the Pedestrian Plaza - 7-9pm/Project 90

13  The Art Seen Festival 6th Annual event - 11am-4pm in the Village of Sanford.  The event is free to attend, with donations appreciated, and will                 also feature live music from The Blue Light. Audiences can expect lively acoustic performances from local artists, including Jolie Wing,                 with additional performers to be announced.   All activities are free and open to the public. 13  Young Eagles Day Planned at the Mt. Pleasant Airport - The Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 907 is inviting local youth to                 take flight! Kids ages 8 to 17 can enjoy free airplane rides from 9am-12pm - Pre-registration by a parent or guardian is required.

13  Midland Parks and Recreation and the Midland Conservation District are gearing up for the fourth annual Free Fishing event at Stratford Woods                 Park and need enthusiastic partners to join the fun. This free, family-friendly event is from 9am-12pm - to ignite a passion for fishing,                 foster connections with the outdoors, and promote responsible environmental stewardship.

                                • Free fishing for all ages: No license required

                                • Loaner equipment available: Rods, reels, bait, and basic instruction provided

                                • Engaging activities for kids: Educational booths, games, and crafts

    Free entry to state parks. To encourage people to pursue free fishing and other outdoor fun, the DNR Recreation Passport that grants vehicle                 access to Michigan's 103 state parks, 1,000-plus state-managed boating access sites and many other outdoor spaces is waived for the                 weekend. *Thru August 30: Homestead Sundays at Chippewa Nature Center - Free, family-friendly afternoons, Sundays from 1-5 pm. Visitors can explore

                the cabin, one-room schoolhouse and timber frame barn, and learn about life in the late 1800s and families that lived right here on CNC                 property! Admission is free.                 June 14: Meet the Farm Animals – Farm animals are an essential part of life on the farm. Greet the sheep as you enter the homestead. Stop                                                 by the chicken coop and share some corn with them! Visit the pig enclosure and learn why pigs were important to the farmstead.                                               Discover what essential things the cows provided for the farm family.

                June 21: Simple Machines – How did farmers get their chores done on the farm? Stop by and learn how simple machines helped them to

                                complete their many tasks. Visit the toolshed to see levers in action. How many wheels and axles can you find in the kitchen?                                                 Explore the gardens to learn how a wedge can be helpful in planting.

                June 28: Bees and Pollination – Discover the different pollinators that visit the gardens on the farm and learn how to help them flourish.                                                 Visit the nearby hives and learn about honeybees. Enjoy a scavenger hunt as you look for pollinators and the flowers they rely on!

                July 5: Leisure Activities and Games – All work and no play would certainly be dull! Farm life was always busy but, on some occasions,                                                 there was an opportunity for fun and games. Come relax with us and try your hand at graces and stilts or enjoy a leisurely walk                                        through the garden.

                July 12: Fiber, Folk Arts and Textiles – Join us at the Homestead and try your hand at carding or spinning wool, learn how fleece is                                      processed into yarn and maybe create your own! Explore different types of fiber arts. Some everyday farm textiles are now                                      considered pieces of art, what ones can you find?

                July 19: Visit the Gardens – In the late 1800s, gardens were an important source of food for the farm family. Stop by and learn about                                   Heirloom vegetables and how settlers used herbs. Take some time to visit the children’s garden to see what’s growing there and                                                 maybe help harvest some vegetables.

                July 26: Shelters and Timber Tools – We all need a shelter to keep us safe. Visit the barn and find out how shelters for farm animals as well                                                 as people were constructed before the age of power tools. Try your hand with a crosscut saw or construct a small section of a                                          timber frame barn.

                August 2: An Afternoon at the Schoolhouse – What was it like to go to school in the late 1800s? Visit our one room schoolhouse to find                                                 out. You will be able to practice your elocution, read from a McGuffey Reader and brush-up on your history. Save some time for                                   recess! Play a game of graces or tag and learn how to walk on stilts.

                 August 9: A Day on the Farm – What kind of chores had to be completed on the farm? Stop by and help out! The chickens need to be                                                 fed, the gardens tended, and repairs made. From sunrise to sunset there are always tasks to complete!

                August 16: A Day at the Cabin – Meals need to be made, the clothes washed and the cabin tidied. Learn how these tasks were completed in                                 the late 1800s by exploring the Homestead cabin and experience what life was like for a farm family.

                August 23: Bountiful Gardens – In the late 1800s, gardens were an important source of food for the farm family. Stop by the cabin and see                                 what they are having for supper. Learn about Heirloom vegetables and how settlers used herbs. Help weed, water and harvest                                                 vegetables in the Children’s Garden.

                August 30: Celebrate the Coming Harvest – How did early farm families keep their food fresh without modern refrigeration? Explore the                                                 root cellar and visit the cabin to see the many ways food was preserved. Perhaps you will walk away with a few tips and recipes to                                                help you preserve some of your own garden-fresh produce!

*Thru August 31:  Every Sunday through August 2026, Four Suns Farm Lavender is offering nature-based programming for kids ages 5-11. For                 $5 per session, children will take walks around the farm, enjoy storytime and hands-on crafts, and learn about pollinators in the local                 community.

Join in the fun with games like giant Jenga, Twister, giant Connect Four, jump ropes, and more. Challenge a                 friend to a lively round of cornhole, try your hand at hula hooping, blow bubbles, and make art with sidewalk chalk.  11:30am-12:30pm in                 the Pedestrian Plaza between Ashman and McDonald streets and will continue every Wednesday through at least August 12. *Thru August 27:  Weekend Warm-Up in Downtown Midland - More than 20 participating businesses will extend hours into the evening and offer                 shopping and dining specials available exclusively on Thursday nights. Also Tunes by the Tridge performs at 7 p.m., and      at dusk, settle in             for a free movie at Ace Hardware for Movies on Main around 9 p.m.
