PROCESS FOR 2024

1. Manually submit your announcements to our monthly website calendar using this linked SUBMIT AN EVENT form. It can also be found on our homepage > community tab > dropdown submit an event.  You may even attach a flyer or image of your event.  Properly posted events will be reviewed, edited and considered for both our website and air-personalities to talk about, in rotation with other community events.  These announcements can also be emailed a minimum of 2 weeks in advance to kent@wcfx.com.

*Thru May 24:  Mt Pleasant Community Foundation - Kay's Way Supply Drive & Krapohl Ford Oil Change - Join the Women's Initiative in                 honoring Kay Krapohl Smith with a supply drive for women and girls. On May 22, Krapohl Ford & Lincoln will donate 100% of the                 proceeds from oil changes to the donation drive.

*Thru May 31:  May is Mental Health Awareness Month & Celebration Cinema is hosting their second annual LIGHTS, CAMERA, TAKE                 ACTION ON YOUR MENTAL HEALTH campaign - All month long, a portion of the proceeds popcorn buckets will be donated to                 support mental health services in our communitie

*Thru May 31:  I-Ride of Isabella County 50th anniversary - In appreciation, I-Ride is rolling back cash fares to 1974 for the month of May -                 Regular fare (5-59)/50¢ - Senior (60+)/25¢ - Disabled/25¢ - Out-of-county fares are doubled, Children under 5 ride free with a fare paying                 adult, Be sure to call 24 hours in advance for the best service. 

*Thru May 31:  The City of Mt. Pleasant has contracted with Progressive Companies, based in Grand Rapids, to lead development of an                 improvement plan for Mission Street.  To launch this effort, the city is releasing a community survey. Just follow this link                 [https://tinyurl.com/mstreetmp] or scan the QR Code below to complete it. Paper copies of the survey will be available at City Hall (320                 W. Broadway Street). Survey deadline is May 31, 2024. There will be three $50 gift certificates from businesses located along Mission Street                 that will be drawn from the list of those who complete the survey and share their email address.

*Thru May 31: What Food is Garfield Reading about Today?  All Day, All Branches of the Chippewa River District Library - Garfield and his                 friends are hiding in the library. Can you find them? Garfield loves to eat all the time. Can you tell us which food he's reading about?                  Characters will move each week, so keep an eye out for them. Please limit prize redemption to once a week. The game is available at all                 CRDL branches.

*Thru June 1:  The Gratiot County Community Foundation grant cycle is accepting applications to help nonprofits respond to local needs.                 $93,000 is available in the summer grant cycle. Registered non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply for grants funding programs                 that improve the quality of life for residents in Gratiot County. Applications, as well as policies and procedures, can be found at                 www.gratiotfoundation.org/grants. *Thru June 2:  Plymouth Pool (Midland) swim lesson registration for youth is now underway.  Registrations may be made online at                 www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/swim or in person at the Midland Parks and Recreation office (4811 N. Saginaw Road, open 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.                 Monday through Friday). Classes are held in two-week sessions beginning Monday, June 3.

*Thru June 3:  The 23rd Mt Pleasant Youth Police Academy is scheduled for July 8-25 - This free program offers youth, going into grades 6-8, who have an interest in law enforcement, an up-close view of the skills and necessary training needed for law enforcement officials.               Applications are now available at Mt. Pleasant Public Schools and the Division of Public Safety, 804 E. High Street, from 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The application deadline is June 3, 2024.

*Thru June 14:  Artwalk Central Artist Registration at Art Reach of Mid Michigan, 111 E. Broadway, Mount Pleasant - New for 2024 the                 competition has been expanded to include youth artists!  Over $6,000 in prize money will be awarded to artists in youth, teen and adult                 categories. Artists interested in submitting a design may register on the Art Reach web site https://www.artreachcenter.org/art-walk-                central or call Art Reach at (989) 773-3689.

*Thru August 1:  Midland’s Beautification Advisory Committee is accepting nominations for the annual Appreciation of Beautification Awards                 for Landscaping Accomplishments and Structural/Site Improvements made to residential and non-residential (business) property. A third                 category, the Bette R. Tollar Civic Commitment Award, recognizes major beautification accomplishments that benefit the community as a                 whole.  Only properties within the City of Midland are eligible for awards.  www.cityofmidlandmi.gov/beautyawards.

*Thru August 25:  ReLeaf Michigan, the only statewide tree planting and education non-profit organization in Michigan, is seeking entries for the                 16th biennial Michigan Big Tree Hunt contest. The 2023-2024 contest, which offers prizes for identifying the biggest trees in Michigan, is                 open to participants of all ages.  bigtreehunt.com.

Photographs, along with letters and journals from the archive will shed light on how                 the property looked when it was the private residence of the Dow family.  2–3pm - $5.00 for adults (+ admission). Cost of the camp is $50 - Pre-registration is required in person at                 the MCTV Network office, located in the lower level of the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library, during regular business hours.

                               

22  Thru July 24:  Art Reach of Mid-Michigan/Coldwater Family Art Camp at Coldwater Lake - Activities include arts and crafts for all ages, tie-                dying t-shirts, adult projects, family games, campfires, and more! A responsible adult must accompany their children to the camp.                 Participants are not required to camp overnight and are welcome to participate in activities on a day-to-day basis! Art Camp activities are                 $70 for an individual or $200 for a family up to 4. Activities will get started at 6 pm on Monday, July 22 and checkout is at 11 am on                 Wednesday, July 24.  Reserve your site and your Art Camp spot as soon as possible, as campsites and cabins are not guaranteed to be                 available!
