Shanna Hackenberger shared this in her nomination: To the Golden Apple Selection Committee, It is with great enthusiasm that I nominate Brandee West for the Golden Apple Award. As an exceptional 7th grade English teacher, dedicated coach, valued member of our AI Task Force, and the unofficial technology expert our entire building relies on, Mrs. West exemplifies what it means to be an outstanding educator, leader, and colleague. In the classroom, Mrs. West inspires students every single day. Their 7th grade English classroom is a place where students feel supported, challenged, and encouraged to grow both academically and personally. She creates meaningful learning experiences that foster critical thinking, creativity, and confidence while building strong relationships with students.
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. West continues to make an incredible impact as a coach. She leads with integrity, patience, and encouragement, teaching student-athletes lessons that extend far beyond the game. Her ability to motivate, mentor, and model perseverance helps students develop into successful and responsible young adults.
As a member of our AI Task Force, Mrs. West demonstrates forward-thinking leadership and innovation. She embraces emerging technology with enthusiasm and purpose, helping our district thoughtfully implement tools that enhance both teaching and learning. Additionally, she is the unofficial “go-to” person for technology support in our building. Whether troubleshooting an issue, helping staff navigate new systems, or offering solutions with patience and expertise, Mrs. West is always willing to step in and help.
Her dependability and willingness to support others make her an invaluable part of our school community. Kind, hardworking, caring, innovative, and dependable are just a few words that describe Mrs. West. She truly is an outstanding educator and an inspiration to all who have the privilege of working alongside her.
